About Us
SCENE One is your guide to what’s happening on the local theatre scene both amateur and professional in Bournemouth and the surrounding area, and it has been born out of my desire to keep alive something that has given me many years of pleasure.
My own involvement goes back to 1967, when as a 16 year old I joined Bournemouth Gilbert and Sullivan Operatic Society. I stayed there until the mid 1990s, with forays into P&P and BBLOC along the way.
I have been a writer and reviewer for Interval Magazine, covering professional shows in Southampton, Basingstoke and Chichester as well as locally. I’ve worked in Marketing for the Southampton Mayflower Theatre, and from 1998 until 2006 I was responsible for the Daily Echo’s weekly Curtain Call page, now sadly discontinued.

The editor takes to the stage |
My deputy editor, Lyn Richell, first became involved with drama in 1962 when she worked at a holiday camp and had to produce a weekly show. She has been a member of the Broadstone Players since 1969 both acting and directing. Most recently she has played Mum in The Anniversary and directed the Players’ centenary production of The Importance of Being Earnest.
Linda Kirkman, Editor.
